The Ford Puma was the UK's best-selling model in July and the first seven months.
UK new car registrations rose to 143,921 last month.
UK new car registrations rose 28 per cent in July to 143,921, according to figures from industry association SMMT.
The growth comes as supply chain challenges ease, allowing automakers to ramp up production and meet order backlogs.
Battery-electric vehicles saw an 88 percent increase to 16 percent of all new registrations for the month.
SMMT said company registrations also drove growth, as large fleet usage increased 62 percent to 80,961 units and business registrations rose 29 percent to 2,915. Private demand remained stable at 60,045 units.
SMMT expects overall UK registrations to reach 1.85 million this year, with fully electric cars expected to take a market share of 17.8 per cent or 330,000 units.
SMMT slightly lowered its forecast for 2024 by 0.7 percent to 1.95 million units, reflecting concerns about the cost of living.
BEVs are expected to reach an overall market share of 22.6 percent next year, reaching sales of 440,000 units.
