2022 Ferrari "Roma"

2022 Ferrari Roma Review
The Ferrari Roma supplanted the Portofino as the brand's most affordable model when it was introduced for the 2021 model year. It's the first-ever front-engine V-8 coupe ever sold by Ferrari and exhibits the driving prowess and dynamics for which the Italian automaker is known. The Roma competes with other grand tourers like the Aston Martin Vantage, Mercedes-AMG GT, and Porsche 911 Turbo.

Although Ferrari just introduced its first front-engine V-8 coupe for the 2021 model year, the Roma is a proper GT through and through. Its styling recalls the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO and it's a rare example of a Ferrari coupe with 2+2 seating.

The Roma rides on compliant suspension that stiffens up when Ferrari's manettino dial is switched to Sport or Race mode, making it a supremely comfortable touring car that also eagerly gobbles up corners. Its new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission delivers quick shifts and responds immediately to inputs with the sculpted paddle shifters.

We noted that the Roma has supercar-like performance when we were behind the wheel on more technical roads. This super GT is just as capable on twisting roads as it is crossing continents.
2022 Ferrari Roma View SideThe Ferrari Roma isn't perfect, however. We found the exhaust note penetrated the cabin when the car was cruising at normal highway speeds. When crawling through traffic or in parking lots, the transmission would also occasionally balk. The touchscreen controls are also somewhat cumbersome. These small missteps should be considered if you want a Roma, but they aren't enough to detract from the GT's overall excellence.

The 2022 Ferrari Roma

is powered by a 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine that produces 612 hp and 561 lb-ft of torque. It sends power to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Ferrari says the Roma can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds and tops out just over 199 mph. In our testing, we managed the 0-60-mph sprint in just 3.3 seconds. Sounds like supercar numbers to us.

The car also offers an 8.4-inch infotainment display as well as an 8.8-inch passenger-side display that shows performance information and allows control over the infotainment system.
