EQ offers a comprehensive ecosystem of electric mobility with products, services, technologies, and innovations. The spectrum ranges from electric vehicles and wall box chargers to charging services and energy storage units for the home.
Harbinger of the new brand is the near-production "Concept EQ" concept vehicle, which celebrated its world première in Paris. The first EQ production model in the SUV segment will be launched before the end of the decade. It will be followed by a model initiative, which will gradually supplement the product range of Mercedes-Benz Cars with electric models.

EQ: clear orientation for customers.
The product range of EQ will comprise all future battery-electric powered vehicles as well as the associated products and services from Mercedes-Benz. With it, the inventor of the automobile creates an easy and transparent orientation for the customers in its constantly expanding model range. This makes the EQ brand the next logical step in the "Best Customer Experience" sales and marketing strategy.
Mercedes-Benz already offers a suitable charging infrastructure for electrified vehicles today, which includes a wall box charger as a quick charger for the home, the free "Charge&Pay“ app for convenient recharging at public stations, as well as stationary energy storage units for home-owners and companies to store electricity from photovoltaic or solar systems. All these products and services will in the future be bundled under EQ. In so doing, Mercedes-Benz establishes a consistent and clear visual appearance for sustainable products and services bearing the three-pointed star.

Show car in Paris: Concept EQ.
With Concept EQ, Mercedes-Benz demonstrates how electric vehicles will soon be able to move to the fast lane: the concept vehicle styled like a sporty SUV coupé offers a look ahead to a new generation of vehicles with battery-electric powertrain. The dynamic exterior design with its new electric aesthetic appeal underlines the focus on the powerful electric drive system: two electric motors, whose output can be increased to up to 300 kW thanks to scalable battery components, and a permanent all-wheel-drive system ensure high driving dynamics.
With a range of up to 500 kilometers as well as the hallmark Mercedes's strengths in terms of safety, comfort, functionality, and connectivity, the Concept EQ meets all requirements for modern, sustainable mobility. The vehicle also offers innovative solutions on the inside, including an entirely new interior concept. Concept EQ celebrated its world première at the Paris Auto Show. The vehicle is a harbinger of the new EQ product brand from Mercedes-Benz for electric mobility.

CASE: Connected, Autonomous, Shared, Electric.
"The mobility of tomorrow at Mercedes-Benz rests on four pillars: Connected, Autonomous, Shared, and Electric. Concept EQ brings all of this together logically," says Dr Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Group AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars. "Zero-emission powertrains are the future. And our new brand EQ goes far beyond the electric vehicle. EQ stands for a comprehensive electric ecosystem with services, technologies, and innovations."
The new generation of electric vehicles will be based on an architecture developed specifically for battery-electric models, which is scalable in every aspect and can be used in different models.

Design with a new electric aesthetic.
"Concept EQ is hot and cool," says Gorden Wagener, Head of Design at Mercedes-Benz Group AG. "Its fascination lies in the reinterpretation of our design philosophy of sensuous clarity for an avant-garde, modern, and distinct electric aesthetic. At the same time, the design stripped down to the bare essentials of the visionary show car reveals a seductive progressivism." The monolithic basic shape of the Concept EQ combines SUV genes with a dynamic coupé character and borrows from a shooting brake at the rear.
The low-slung and elongated greenhouse creates powerful purist proportions. The new electric aesthetic is created by the flowing transition from the shiny black bonnet and the windscreen to the dark-tinted panoramic glass roof – an intriguing contrast to the aluminum silver outer skin. Hardly visible panel gaps, concealed windscreen wipers, cameras in place of side mirrors, and the elimination of conventional door handles underscore the stretched and dynamic silhouette.
Interior: avant-garde and functional.
The driver-oriented cockpit focuses on straightforward touch-based control and an innovative electric aesthetic, which transports the exterior looks logically to the interior. The instrument panel with the large free-floating widescreen display is tailored to the driver thanks to its asymmetrical design.
The interior of the "Concept EQ“ is characterized by modern luxury evident above all in an all-new user interface – it combines emotional appeal with user-friendliness, and except for the hallmark Mercedes power seat controls does away with classic switches and buttons.
The center console with rose gold surround appears to be floating: it has no mechanical controls and instead is equipped with touch-sensitive elements. Just like the touch controls in the steering wheel, the driver operates the automatic climate control system and infotainment system with a finger.
EQ: the new e-mobility brand.
The near-production Concept EQ concept vehicle offers a look ahead to a cross-platform architecture for battery-electric vehicles. Dieter Zetsche: "The electric smart was a pioneer of electric driving in 2007. Now we are throwing the switch. We are ready to start an electric initiative, with which we will cover all vehicle segments from the compact to the luxury class."
The future models embody the essence of modern electric mobility – the combination of attractive design, extraordinary driving fun, high daily practicality, and maximum safety that distinguishes all vehicles from the inventor of the automobile.
