After showing several teasers, Acura finally launched the new Acura Integra Type S car in the United States (11/4). The Acura Integra Type S is here as the sportiest and most powerful variant of the Acura Integra as well as being a new car in Acura's Type S lineup. "The new Acura Integra Type S brings the Turbo Type S performance and gateway design to our brand," said Emile Korkor, Acura Assistant Vice President of National Sales. Considering that the newest Integra is a close sibling to the Civic, the new Acura Integra Type S car has much in common with the Honda Civic Type R.
The first similarity lies in the four-cylinder turbo engine with a capacity of 1,996 cc capable of producing 320 hp and 420 Nm of torque in the Integra Type S.
The engine-coded K20C1 channels its wild power and torque to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. Apart from that, the Integra Type S and Civic Type R both have Brembo brakes and 19-inch rims wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. However, apart from the engine, transmission, and engine, the Acura Integra Type S gives the impression of being more luxurious and mature than the Type R.
The return of the maximum performance version at Acura is consolidated by the presence of the most powerful Integra in its history. Titled Type S, this car displays its power to start and experience a sportier driving experience.
