New Aston Martin DB12

New Aston Martin DB12 Review
The DB12 is a good advertisement for Aston Martin under its new ownership and management team, but it's not exactly perfect. This is a very impressive driver's car, with a wide range of capabilities that belies the size and layout of the car – as a 'Super GT' it ticks the 'Super' box well and squarely. But with the cooler DB12 likely to follow – an AMR version is sure to come soon – we'd prefer a version that's more 'GT' and less 'Super'. In fact, we found tire noise to be tiring, and we also wanted a slightly more supple ride. Some technologies are still a generation behind. But then, for £185k, you'll get what is officially the most beautiful car in the world.

Back in November, we stood on stage in Berlin handing the award for the world's most beautiful car to Aston Martin. German readers of our sister title Auto Bild, as well as the country's largest Sunday newspaper Bild Am Sonntag, have voted for the DB12 in the prestigious Golden Steering Wheel Awards.

New Aston Martin DB12 Performance
We can now confirm that on a cold and wet winter morning, Aston Martin DB's illustrious new model range can indeed brighten up the dullest of days. It is, as my German friends say, quite beautiful.

This has often happened to Astons in the past, but dynamically they have sometimes failed to deliver. Not so here – the DB12 is the best Aston Martin we've ever driven. But the question is, is it necessary?

Aston is calling its latest model the Super GT, and the numbers back it up. Under that long, shapely bonnet is a Mercedes-AMG-sourced, Aston Martin-tuned twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 671bhp and 800Nm. What this means in the real world is that if you're feeling heavy with straight-line acceleration above 30mph, the big Michelins on the rear wheels will keep spinning on damp roads – as we found out. A quick steering adjustment and deep breathing will soon get the car and your heart rate back to normal.

However, this car aims to get your heart rate up – and its capabilities are truly astonishing. This is one seriously quick car from point to point, and not just thanks to its 3.6 second 0-100 km/h time.

New Aston Martin DB12 Interior
Not only is the engine powerful, with a seemingly endless flow of power but there's also a big exhaust note to accompany the acceleration, with a bit of a rowdy flash at start-up to let you know what it's all about. The eight-speed ZF gearbox is impressive, shifting smoothly, while the steering is very pleasing – not so sharp that you're constantly fiddling, but perfectly weighted to give you confidence through corners. It's fast enough to let you move from left to right and flow through consecutive tight corners, too.

Despite the DB12's size – and you'll feel its width when navigating narrow country roads or narrow city streets – the DB12 has an impressive ability to feel smaller and nimbler than you'd expect. It sits just above the DB11, which is quite a feat considering the car the DB12 is based on.

The brakes are equally effective in helping the car decelerate, although modulating via the pedal can feel a little odd at lower speeds – we'd like the brakes to be a little more linear. Likewise, the ride could be a little more supple. This can be a bit tiring on long, poorly-surfaced roads – which we see a lot of in the UK.

And despite the enormous amount of grip (if you value the instant power available), those big tires deliver quite a bit of power. So much so that you will talk to your passengers with a slightly raised voice on a cruise ship.

It will also most likely be a passenger in the singular. We managed to get into the back seats, but our photographer, with his head against the roof, said, “Comfortable, very comfortable.”

New Aston Martin DB12 Side back
However, the roof is a great example of the progress Aston Martin has made in terms of quality. It features beautiful quilted leather on top, and the rest of the cabin materials are top-notch as well; classy and contemporary.

However, the balance between the touchscreen and the various knobs and switches doesn't match the old style, which for most people is a good thing. The push-button gear selector has been replaced with a small leather-wrapped lever, surrounded by buttons for the air conditioning, and buttons for everything from suspension control to exhaust noise. However, the switches on the steering wheel are a bit less easy to use, especially now that they feature touch-sensitive pads that other brands are quickly abandoning. Frustratingly, it can change your driving view with just the wrong swipe of your finger.

There's still the Aston Martin-branded center start/stop button, but it has a dual function with a rotating dial used to select GT, Sport, Sport+, or Individual driving modes. We prefer the latter with everything in a more comfortable setting, but with the exhaust dialed in for a bit of sonic enjoyment.

While the bespoke touchscreen is a big improvement over Mercedes' old system, it still feels a generation behind some of the setups you'll find in competitors – not least because you have to use the good old system. -old-fashioned cable to connect Apple CarPlay. Even some superminis offer wireless connectivity these days.

Even though our car was an early example, there was a bit of hum coming from the back of the cabin, and we experienced occasional glitches in the forward-facing camera system, resulting in errors in the emergency braking and traffic signal warning systems. We want our customers' cars to be perfect – especially with prices starting at £185,000.

2024 Aston Martin Vanquish

2024 Aston Martin Vanquish Review
Aston Martin chief executive Lawrence Stroll was in an upbeat mood at the Financial Times Future of the Car summit in London this week, officially announcing that the British carmaker will launch eight new cars over the next 24 months. The first, a replacement for the DB11 sports coupe, will be announced on May 24. However, not included in the new lineup is the mid-engined Aston Martin Vanquish, whose concept was shown at the 2019 Geneva Show.

The mid-engined Vanquish was designed by former Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer to compete with mainstream mid-engined supercars from Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren. Unlike the stunning Valkyrie hypercar and the very similar Valhalla —which will share carbon fiber structural elements of the mid-engined Valkyrie and will have a 937-horsepower hybrid powertrain based on a version of Mercedes-AMG's mid-mounted flat-plane crank. 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8—the Vanquish was intended to be a continuous production car, not a limited-volume model.

2024 Aston Martin Vanquish Back side
The mid-engined Vanquish will therefore compete with Ferrari's 296GTB, Lamborghini's Huracan successor, and McLaren's new 750S, both in terms of performance and price. The Geneva concept, codenamed AM-RB 003, suggests that the car will have a unique bonded aluminum chassis and a hybrid powertrain built around a new 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 designed in-house at Aston Martin.

The Vanquish looks good on paper. But after its disastrous 2018 IPO, Aston Martin was left in debt after major shareholders sold some of their shares and the share price plunged, mostly vaporware. The V-6 engine “was just a concept when I arrived,” said former AMG boss Tobias Moers, whom Stroll hired as CEO after a syndicate of investors he led took over nearly 17 percent of the company in early 2020. It would have cost tens of millions of dollars. “If the engine was ready, I would definitely ride it, but it wasn't.”

2024 Aston Martin Vanquish Exterior
Moers, who left Aston a year ago, ditched the V-6 in favor of the proven and versatile AMG-sourced 4.0-liter V-8, but even packaged that engine in a bespoke new chassis to create a mid-engined Vanquish would have adverse effects. too detrimental for a company that lost the equivalent of $140 million—before taxes—in the first three months of 2022.

Stroll said Aston Martin would now focus on the front-engined sports cars that are the core of the brand, along with the addition of the DBX SUV variant, which he said now has a 25 percent share in the high-performance luxury SUV segment, and sales. of which rose 40 percent in the first quarter of this year. The performance and handling of front-engined cars will improve dramatically: "We've created a new sector, something superior to the GT," says Stroll - and the human-machine interface (HMI) infotainment on all new Astons will improve. significantly improved, both in terms of appearance and functionality.

2024 Aston Martin Vanquish Wallpaper
The Valhalla "will eventually come in many variants, not just the one we introduced," Stroll said and will be part of Aston Martin's lineup for several years to come, with a total volume of 999 cars. Aston would each year produce one or two special cars, in very limited volumes, 100 to 300 cars each, and each with a very high price tag. Stroll claims Aston has almost 900 orders, three times the production plan, for the $3 million Valkyrie.

Aston Martin One-77

Aston Martin One-77 Review
Aston's then boss, Dr Ulrich Bez, shocked the car world when he announced that Aston Martin would build a limited edition supercar costing one million pounds. That's when Aston faced Bugatti and Pagani and said 'We will give our best, thank you very much, mate'.

While the One-77 has all the Aston hallmarks (wide-mouthed grille, rear-curved headlamps, elongated bonnet, and a nice positioning of the rear cabin with the tail), this isn't just another powerful, fiery Vanquish spin-off. . in paper pulp. The car is designed with a racing-spec carbon fiber monocoque with a beautiful carbon subframe supporting the mid-mounted front engine and internal suspension.

This truly uncompromising layout is then covered with new aluminum panels. Specially ordered lights, wheels, doors, and glass were made for these 77 cars. The deposit alone required to secure a niche figure – assuming you're near the top of Aston Martin's preferred client list – amounts to £200,000. That leaves £1,000,000 payable on delivery.

Aston Martin One-77 Side view

Aston's most expensive car to date is also its fastest.

Deep beneath the front-hinged hood lies the One-77's highlight: its incredible engine. For Aston's flagship, it could just be the typically inspired V12 engine. The company's usual 6.0-liter unit was replaced by the Cosworth, which ditched the usual cylinder lining in favor of a low-friction nanoscopic coating, which increased capacity to 7.3 liters, while the engine's actual weight dropped 15 percent to 260kg, thanks to its refined internals. lighter. This love letter to internal combustion is then tucked 100mm lower into the car than Aston's regular V12 engine, buried deep so it can't escape, or interfere with handling.

More space to suck/squeeze/hit/blow and the racer section doing all of the above means more power, of course. With 750bhp and 553 lb-ft, the One-77 was, at launch, the most powerful naturally aspirated car in the world. And while cars like the Ferrari F12 and various Zondas are quickly catching up, the One-77 remains Aston's fastest road car, capable of a top speed of 320mph, with 0-100mph achieved in 3.7 seconds.

Aston Martin One-77 View
Unlike today's exotic cars, the One-77 doesn't have many driving modes. Apart from the Sport setting for the gearbox, there's nothing to tweak or tweak: there's no multi-stage traction control here. There's active aero, but the pop-up rear spoiler doesn't seem like the kind of aerofoil that would keep this car stuck to a tunnel ceiling.

At once, the One-77 is completely cutting edge and somehow looks dated. Although it may have been overshadowed by contemporary Bugattis that went faster in a straight line – and handicapped by an archaic gearbox – it deserves to be remembered as one of the most distinctive British supercars of all time.
Aston Martin One-77 Interior
One-77 shows what is possible. That's what the SLR would look like if Murray could make his naturally aspirated lightweight dream come true. There's a gleeful sense of barely contained rage about the One-77, that its engine is deeply unhappy about being confined within its wondrous shell and would like to scream its way free if given half a chance.

Aston Martin dared to dress an edgy, aggressive, take-no-prisoners thoroughbred in a dignified lounge suit. Maybe that's the reason why this hypercar is not considered one of the most iconic hypercars of the early 21st century. Must. Apart from the gearbox. The One-77's transmission wasn't just a weakness – it was a war crime.

Aston Martin One-77 PerformanceOnce again, this car represents the moment before downforce, hybrid drivetrains, and overload-mode technology began to define the world's fastest road cars. So perhaps it's only fitting that this sensational engine should duel with such a formidable gearbox before it can unleash its potential on the world. These imperfections define its place in history, like the scars of Second World War shrapnel in Westminster Abbey.
Aston Martin One-77 Exterior

Or perhaps in the next few decades, there will be a manual conversion for the One-77, as is currently the case for the original Vanquish, which was also engulfed in gearbox purgatory. The One-77 will stand for all time as one of Aston Martin's finest watches: the British Zonda, fierce and a little no-nonsense. It's just the right transmission away from being one of the greatest analog supercars of all time.

2024 Aston Martin Valkyrie "The Impossible Car"

2024 Aston Martin Valkyrie Review
This Aston Martin Valkyrie was driven just 75 miles before the original owner parted ways with it

One of the first Aston Martin Valkyries to hit the used car market has traded hands just a few days after being listed for sale.

The Valkyrie is one of the most remarkable street-legal vehicles ever produced and capped at just 150 examples worldwide. This particular example is number 139 and while it isn’t known how much it sold for, we suspect it fetched well more than the car’s original $3 million starting price.

The British hypercar was sold by Tom Hartley Jnr. and is finished in Aston Martin British Racing Green, really making it stand out. It is also rolling on matte black magnesium performance wheels with Silver Argento satin wheel centers, black brake calipers, and the roof and engine cover finished in gloss carbon fiber. Various Silver Argento graphics are also found across the exterior.
2024 Aston Martin Valkyrie Back viewLike all Aston Martin Valkyries, the interior is quite sparse. Among the key features include the carbon fiber seats with black Alcantara padding, silver contrast stitching, and a staggering amount of carbon fiber across virtually every single surface.

2024 Aston Martin Valkyrie PerformanceTom Hartley Jr. sold the car with 2 pairs of headphones, a spare key, a center wheel lock socket, a battery conditioner, a handbook, a warning triangle, a tire inflation kit, an emergency tool kit, a towing eye, and a dedicated file detailing the car’s history, including a copy of the original invoice. The Valkyrie was driven just 75 miles (121 km) by its original owner.

While the remarkable aerodynamics package of the Valkyrie immediately distinguishes it from every other car on the road, its engine is equally as special. Built by Cosworth, the car’s 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 revs to 11,000 rpm and churns out a remarkable 1,000 hp. Additional grunt is provided by an electric motor, giving the hypercar a combined 1,160 hp and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque at 6,000 rpm.

Aston Martin DB11 " MSRP Range: $233,200 "

Aston Martin DB11 Review
Still, the auto you should really picture yourself in is an Aston Martin like the DB11, If you've ever visualized avoiding bad guys on the roads of Monte Carlo or drifting around corners in the Swiss Alps while dodging copter machine gun fire. The 2022 Aston Martin DB11 is a grand tourer — a fantastic two-door that combines the high-speed athleticism of a sports coupe with the comfortable lift of a luxury auto.

The DB11's surface is contemporaneously understated and admiration-inspiring, swinging it a kind of under-the-radar enthusiasm that more convivial sports buses can not hope to match. The cabin is a tale of two automakers, blending Aston Martin's accouterments artificer with Mercedes-Benz's fairly straightforward infotainment system. You also have your choice of machines Mercedes' venerable binary- turbocharged V8 or a binary- -turbo V12 of Aston's design. Each offers a rich soundtrack to round the asset movie playing out in your mind as you crawl through the Rodeo Drive business.

The Aston Martin is a fantastic grand tourer, but it competes against some heavy blockbusters in the exotic order. Chief among these is the Bentley Continental GT, which offers a sublime driving experience and incomparable cabin accouterments. The Audi R8, Ferrari Roma, and Lamborghini Huracan are each in the blend, too, if you are looking for a commodity a little every day. There is also the Porsche 911 Turbo S, which has a more understated presence than the vehicles listed then but consummately blends extreme performance with everyday usability. Any of these picks would be an excellent choice if you are looking to add a little spice to your life.
Aston Martin DB11 Back
With only three true configurations to choose from — V8 coupe, V8 convertible, or V12 coupe — the best DB11 is the one that matches your lifestyle. Personally, we're drawn to the V8 coupe, which has less weight over the front end and is a bit more responsive to drive. Boxes we'd check on the options list include ventilated seats, the touchpad infotainment system controller, and the Bang & Olufsen audio system. And get the DB11 in a cool color. You can pretend to be Daniel Craig with Xenon Gray, but don't be afraid of Golden Saffron or Ming Blue.

Buyers can also choose from more exterior elements. For example, trim is available in gloss black, carbon fiber, or body colors. There is also a metallic or black grille. Additionally, there are seven wheel designs to choose from, and all have a diameter of 21 inches.
Moving inside, there are thin performance seats and more luxurious Sports Plus seats with diamond-shaped stitching. The cabin comes standard in a two-tone look, and buyers can choose primary and secondary colors. There are even 11 colors available for carpets and six colors for seat belts. A carbon fiber package covers the center console with a lightweight material. A 1,170-watt Bowers & Wilkins stereo is an optional upgrade.

Aston Martin offers several luxury accessories. There's a four-piece suitcase set, a golf bag, a ski rack, and, strangest of all, a pet pack with a dog bed.

The DB12 packs a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that produces 671 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 590 pound-feet of torque between 2,750 and 6,000 rpm. It can reach 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 202 mph.

"Mansory Cyrus" Aston Martin DB9

Mansory Cyrus Aston Martin DB9 reviewMansory, the German company well known company for modifying luxury and performance cars began to offer an enhancement package for the DB9 in 2005. In 2010 they went on to unveil an outlandish new limited edition car based on either a DB9 or DBS donor car, the Mansory Cyrus. The styling of the Cyrus, which no longer features Aston Martin badging has been largely influenced by the factory built One-77 although that car is bodied in handmade aluminium panels, and not he carbon fibre of the Cyrus.
Mansory Cyrus Aston Martin DB9 ViewIt appears that the entire body of the Cyrus is remanufactured from extremely light ‘prepress autoclave carbon’ including both wing extensions for the front and rear and also side skirts and bonnet which comes with ‘power domes’ in place of the grilles. The Cyrus is claimed to be about 70 kg lighter than the donor car. Exactly how Mansory get a gold thread into the carbon weave isn’t known but much if the interior facings on the example featured here match the exterior carbon. The car shown here is probably the first Cyrus built, based on a DB9 donor car. It was shown at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show on the Mansory company stand.
Mansory Cyrus Aston Martin DB9 Back viewThe engine of the Cyrus remains unchanged from the original donor car, although Mansory are happy to fit a sports exhaust system and sports catalytic converter plus a high performance manifold, liberating another 28 bhp allowing modest improvement to the performance. The Cyrus is fitted with 10 spoke ultra-light wheels, the lightest forged wheels available. Fitted with Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres, the front wheels are 20 inch in diameter and 9 inches wide; the rears are 21 inch diameter and 10.5 inches wide 295/25 tyres.
Mansory Cyrus Aston Martin DB9 ExteriorMansory are keen to point out that they only intend to build, or more accurately, convert 15 of these cars although no information is available as to how close they are in completing this number. Car #7 has been spotted for sale and features a more traditional matte black carbon weave. The cost of the Cyrus is dependant on the final spec but the conversion is priced in the region of €380,000 plus the cost of the donor DB9 or DBS.
