The Avatr 12 will be offered in two versions with 308 hp and 578 hp respectively.
Small Chinese car manufacturer Avatr, formed through an alliance between Changan, Huawei, and CATL, has launched 12 electric cars at the Munich Motor Show. While we first saw the sedan in July, it's only now that the company has released its full specifications as well as showing off its interior for the first time.
Avatr will sell 12 units with two powertrain options. The entry-level model is equipped with a 94.5 kWh ternary lithium-ion battery from CATL that drives an electric motor in the rear that produces 308 hp. A performance-focused version with two electric motors producing a combined 578 hp and driven by the same 94.5 kWh battery is also offered. Before the car was introduced, there was speculation that it would be offered with the same 90.4 kWh and 116.8 kWh batteries as the Avatr 11 SUV.
The new EV is 5,020 mm (197.6 inches) long, 1,999 mm (78.7 inches) wide and 1,460 mm (57.4 inches) high. It also has a wheelbase of 3,020 mm (118.9 inches) and is slightly larger than the Nio ET7.
The exterior design of this car is quite interesting to look at. The front features a small black grille and a separate set of LED daytime running lights that create a C shape. Avatr then places the main headlights next to the DRLs. The unique elements of the car's design continue on the side, where you may first notice an attractive profile that looks like a cross between a traditional sedan and a Shooting Brake. Pop-out door controls are standard as is a pop-out rear spoiler.
Things get more interesting inside the cabin. The Avatr 12 has a leather-wrapped dashboard as well as a compact steering wheel with a flat top and a flat bottom. The dashboard also supports a 35.4-inch panoramic widescreen display that includes the instrument cluster and passenger display. A pair of screens are also used for the digital rearview mirror, while a landscape-oriented loading infotainment screen is used to control most of the vehicle's functions.
Elsewhere, the Avatr 12 is equipped with an electrochromic panoramic glass roof, Nappa leather, and an elaborate ambient lighting system. The sedan also has a 27-speaker sound system, 3 nature-inspired fragrances, and a digital rearview mirror.
Avatr says the 12 is equipped with the Huawei Advanced Driving System 2.0 suite of assistance which has 29 advanced sensors including 3 LiDAR. Pricing and availability details have not been announced.
