Ferrari SF90 Stradale 2020

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale has been produced since 2019 until now. This sports car is also environmentally friendly. This is because this Ferrari is powered by a mid-engine with Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) technology.

The name SF90 was inspired by the Formula 1 (F1) racing team. SF stands for Scuderia Ferrari and 90 refers to the 90th anniversary of the Scuderia Ferrari racing team. The name Stradale itself means "made for the road".

The Ferrari SF9 Stradale is equipped with a 4.0 Liter V8 Twin Turbo engine, MGU-K, and a 7.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. The engine is combined with an 8-speed F1 transmission system with a dual-clutch gearbox.

Ferrari SF90 Stradale design

The exterior design of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale is like any other Ferrari model. The appearance is very aggressive and aerodynamic. The front also looks futuristic with the use of C-shaped Matrix LED headlights when aligned with the shape of the brake air intake on the front bumper. The performance of the vortex generator under the front of the car can be maximized thanks to the chassis position in the front area being made higher by up to 15 mm.

On the side, one can see the aerodynamic design of this sports car. The windshield is more curved and the A-pillars are made slimmer, as well as the roof curves are more sloping. The side air intake located behind the window is also designed to capture more air into the intercooler located in the aero hole. The rims not only have a cool design. This rim is specifically designed to follow the concept of Blown Geometry which can maximize air out of the fender space in the tire. At the same time, it can maximize the airflow from the front diffuser.

At the stern, the rear hood area can be made lower thanks to the engine position which is also made lower. That way, several design elements are maximized by Ferrari to produce better downforce. Another advantage is the position of the twin exhaust pipes which are placed right in the middle of the rear bumper.

So that the downforce effect can be maximized, Ferrari made an aerodynamic innovation, namely "Shuf Off Gurney". This aerodynamic system uses a shape like a rear wing which is divided into two parts. The first part is a fixed-wing together with the position of the third brake light. The second part is a panel near the rear hood that can go up and down automatically. The working concept of this system is actually the same as the Drag Reduction System (DRS) on F1 racing cars. That way, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale has better downforce at the rear stern, in addition to relying on a rear diffuser with a massive size. As a result, the resulting grip or traction gets better when the car accelerates.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale was designed by Flavio Manzoni and the Ferrari Styling Centre. The chassis and design used are completely new, as is the platform used. Production takes place in Maranello, Italy.

Interior of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale

The interior design of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale is quite futuristic and radical, but on the other hand, it also looks minimalist. The buttons in the cockpit already use haptic touch which is placed parallel to the steering wheel. The steering wheel already uses e-Manettino with driving mode and power unit settings. On the right side of the steering wheel, there is a touchpad for adjusting the instrument cluster and rotary buttons for cruise control.

The instrument cluster system embedded in the Ferrari SF90 Stradale is also more futuristic because it uses a 16-inch display screen with the latest graphics and interface. The HMI (Human Machine Interface) system on this car has also been overhauled. Thus, the delivery of information about the condition of the car and supporting features can also be known by the driver.

The seat uses a semi-bucket model to give a driving sensation like a racing car. On the center console, there is a button or lever whose position follows the design of the manual gear shift gate. On older Ferrari models, this button is usually used for launch control, transmission mode, and the rear brake button.

Features of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is equipped with a variety of advanced features and the latest technology. The driving mode system packaged with the e-Manettino has two modes to choose from, either the driving mode or the unit's power button. The choice of driving modes, from Wet, Sport, Race, CT-off, to ESC Off. On the left haptic touch panel, there are four drive unit mode options.
The first mode is eDrive which will automatically use an electric motor with a maximum distance of 25 km. This feature will also automatically activate when the car moves backward. The second mode is eManettino which regulates the Hybrid power unit which is immediately active when the car is started.

For drivers who want more wild performance, they can use Performance mode. This mode produces an electric motor response and the engine becomes more aggressive. The QUalify mode is the fastest among the other modes. This mode will maximize all engine performance, both petrol engines and electric motorbikes.

Ferrari also ensures that this car with an all-wheel drive (AWD) system remains responsive and fun. Technology that can support this, starts from eSSC (Electronic Side Slip Control), Torque Vectoring on the front axle, Electric Traction Control, and RAC-e (electronic cornering set-up regulator).

Engine and Performance

Ferrari SF90 Stradale Engine Performance
Under the hood of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, there is an engine with a 90-degree V8 configuration equipped with a turbo. The engine capacity is 3,990 cc. The engine has a maximum power of up to 769 hp and a maximum torque of 800 Nm. The greatest power in the history of the Ferrari V8 engine.

The remaining 220 hp of power is produced by three MGU-K (Motor Generator Unit-Kinetic) electric motor units. One unit at the rear, located between the engine and the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission system. The other two units are placed on the front axle. The total power that can be distributed reaches 1,000 hp.

Ferrari claims this car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds. Meanwhile, 0-200 km/hour can be reached in 6.7 seconds. The maximum speed is claimed to reach up to 340 km/hour.

Driving Comfort Ferrari SF90 Stradale

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale offers driving comfort which is quite good for a sports car. The seat uses a semi-bucket model. Apart from that, many embedded features and technologies can make controlling this car easier and more controllable.

Ferrari SF90 Stradale Fuel Consumption

Ferrari has equipped the SF90 Stradale with a 90-degree V8 engine with a capacity of 3,990 cc and equipped with a turbocharger. Apart from that, it is also powered by three MGU-K electric motors. Fuel consumption is of course very wasteful if you only rely on the petrol engine, namely 7.6 km/liter. Meanwhile, if the electric motor is also used, fuel consumption can reach 21.6 km/liter.
